Gifts - Outstanding Performance

Got some gifts to the students with outstanding performance. Hope they like it!

Gifts - Behind the Scene
Got to know that friends were going to visit Taiwan, I quickly requested them to buy me some musical gifts in order to present to my students with outstanding performances. Luckily they don't mind to carry back that (so far away from Taiwan). Thanks to them a lot!!

Two weeks later, the gifts on hand! Ohoho! What to do next? Busy, busy always... But, I would have to visit gift shops for cute bear wrapping papers. Next, spend some time to wrap up the gift, scissors to cut, cellophane tape to stick here and there, wrap nicely etc etc. Finished and Done!

Present to one of a student, she was trying to guess what's inside after saying "Thank you teacher" to me! She touched the gift and said: "Is a notebook bla bla bla~ Is a stationery set!" she was so excited in guessing. Her father, looked at her daughter and me, the teacher and laughed. =.= hahaaha!

Maybe I should place them into a box, so she can't guess it easily right?! :D

Something for the young students ^.^

Got some stickers for the young students for paying out effort and hard work in practicing piano/violin. Of course, this can't always be the excuse for students to practice on the instrument, just to get the stickers from their music teacher. This easily caused "no stickers, no practice".

However, from the positive point of view, this can be some kind of encouragement and communication between students vs teacher rather than giving away stickers are a type of reward to the students. Most of the children would love stickers especially printed with their favourite characters.

Keep it up on your hardwork, my dear students!! Adults too!!

Violin Instrument for Beginners

Many new students and parents asked me that how much a violin cost for a beginner? Here we go for the answer:

Usually a beginner will buy a violin cost around RM300/+- Mostly made in China, some are good in quality some are not, it really depends. These range of violins are far more enough and suitable for beginners. However, there are some pros and cons in getting this cheaper range of violin.

Violin for beginners - 4/4 size
Pros:
1. Affordable prices
2. I don't know myself will play how long - short term? long term? Buy a cheap one better!

Cons:
1. Tuning problem might exist, eg. violin peg/fine tuners
2. Some of them sound harsh, some students with sensitive ears might be unable to take it and end up losing interest in playing after a few months. And then, give up of playing violin. (Such a waste if only because of this issue)

Tips: There are different sizes of violins. Usually teenagers and adults will be using 4/4 size. For young children or primary school students, it really depends on individual. When they grow older and taller, they probably need to change a bigger size violin. Parents must take note on this o~

However, if you don't have any budget constraint, of course you can also consider to buy a higher range violin which cost thousand over ringgit and above in order to produce a better sound and no need to change your violin when you have reached intermediate or advance level.

Conclusion: Most of the students have chosen a cheaper one rather than the expensive violin. Therefore, you judge for your own needs of a violin.

Reasons/Benefits to learn Music Theory

Why do we need to learn music theory during the lessons?? Of course, basically we need to learn them to play our favourite songs and pieces, to understand different kinds of rhythmic pattern etc etc.

Another great benefit of learning music theory is ---> to compose a song/melody by your own! It really depends on how creative you are, how you imagine your song/melody would wanna sound like?! <3

Therefore, please do not afraid/feel bad to attend music theory session~ They are so much fun in learning them~ <3

A Song/Melody written dedicated to my lovely family members --> "Loving You Forever".

Some friends heard of my composition and gave a good comment that it really sounds like some Korean Drama's OST main theme. Well, maybe I've watched too many Korean Drama. :D Therefore, this song being composed in a simple method and it must be filled up with great romance and feelings~~

Now the phone rings with my own created music Theme! OMG! :)

Violin Exam~

Today is my student, Anis, age 37, her most important day. Other students have gone through this exam yesterday. She is gonna play in front of the examiner from ABRSM, UK. Well, I'm her pianist today~ She likes photography and requests to take a photo before exam. That's really a great idea to release tension and stay relax before entering the examination room!!

A little true story behind~

Meeting Her
That's good faith meeting with Anis! A kind, friendly and outgoing lady. She worked as a Vice President in a department; one of the world branded global bank. Before she decided to play violin, she has listed down a checklist of hobbies for herself rather than just work and work in the corporate world. She told me she needed something to light up her life! Finally, she has chosen the violin! And then, we met!

The Positive Attitude + Her Success
No matter how busy she was, she tried to manage her time to practice violin and finished her music theory work. During the lessons, she often laughed happily even she made some minor mistakes while playing. She was quite nervous when we were playing duets especially during her exam period. Always, I calmed her down and encouraged her to present the best performance. From a "KOSONG" beginner, after 1.8 years, she has completed her Grade 2 ABRSM Violin. Congratulations!! ^.^ This really provide a great example that as long as a person willing to learn, don't give up easily, no matter who you are, in what ages, she/he still able to play an instrument and enjoy the music, as long as you practice it!

Furthermore, she played the violin during her company's event/function, her colleagues were so surprised and excited on her great performance! Also, thanks to her very much --> During my orchestra's concert, she always came to support, paid ticket for seats, entered to the hall and watched concerts with classical piano and violin concerto programmes. ^.^
